Planning Policy Officer needed in Stoke Paying  £22.65 per hr ref 5262408

Full time hours on a temporary basis

• We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Planning Policy Officer to provide expert advice on statutory spatial planning policy and guidance. This role involves supporting the preparation of various spatial plans, critically examining complex applications, and contributing to sustainable site and area-based regeneration priorities.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Advice: Provide expert advice on statutory spatial planning policy and guidance, ensuring adherence to due process, best practice, and corporate objectives.
  • Plan Preparation: Support the preparation of spatial plans, including the Local Plan, SPDs, LDOs, Planning Briefs, Neighbourhood Plans, and Local Transport Plan.
  • Application Examination: Critically examine complex major formal applications under planning and associated legislation, ensuring compliance with appropriate legislation and approved policies.
  • CPO Support: Support Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) work, including appearing as an expert witness.
  • Specialist Input: Provide specialist professional planning input to the design and delivery of sustainable site and area/theme-based regeneration priorities, in line with the corporate business plan and development programmes.
  • Senior Advice: Advise senior officers and others on policy considerations for potential and actual major investment and redevelopment opportunities.
  • Proactive Collaboration: Work proactively with the development industry and senior officers to deliver the aspirations and objectives of the Statutory Development Plan and contribute to other planning policy and development programmes.
